>>At a client site, we have 4 NT Workstations and one Win '98. The Win '98 workstation can print from a DOS Shell on a shared printer on the server. However, all NT Workstations can't print from a DOS Shell. We can't redirect the LPT1 port to print on a shared printer on those workstations.

printer share name from the NT DOS Shell? If so, what are you doing to send the file to the printer. On my NT Ws box (NT 4.0 build 1381 SP5), the following works:
>
>NET USE LPT2 \\Ed3\Epson600
>PRINT /D:LPT2 sampletext.txt

Thanks
