I had a table with about 1200 records and several dozen fields, originally intended for stand-alone use. I used the table itself, and displayed most of the fields in a page frame. Now it's about to have a child with about a dozen fields and 7000-10000 records. I plan to display the children in a grid in the same spot where the page frame is. I would like to be able to switch between the pageframe full of parent fields and the grid full of child fields. Of course, the extra parent fields are not needed when the grid is displayed. What is the most efficient way to make all this happen? The app will have to run on a slow 486. Putting everything in one view seems like a waste. Anything that navigates too much slower than the original table will annoy the client. On the other hand, I know I have to be careful about switching data sources around, especially when a grid is involved.
