The number of fields is extremely high. However, I gave up, paid the fee, had Microsoft look at the code. Their conclusion - The code looks fine, there is no reason that this should happen. Yet it is, and it is consistent. We are able to do 1500 records, then we have to close out, reboot the computer, and do the next 1500. What a pain.
