You have gotten good advice from both Perry and Tom. VFP can massage the data all you want and then you can either use the VFP Report Writer or use Automation to pass it off to Word or Excel.

Alternatively you can use Crystal Reports to (probably) do both. It all depends upon the desired results and where your expertise lies.
