Thanks for the suggestions. I tried:

1. playing around with setting EXCLUSIVE ON or OFF for the table for which the browse window is being created.

2. Setting the config.fpw so that the resource file is on the C: drive

I still get PROGRAM ERROR - RECORD IS IN USE BY ANOTHER

It is intermittent but frequent.

I tried contacting Microsoft but even at $235 per incident they still won't support 2.6.
