I have some calculations in a current project that would lend themselves to the approach you just specified but that have the potential to gross levels of recursion. I was thinking of using a cursor, hence VFP for that reason alone. Well, that and I'm a VB weenie *BG*.

There is a definite upper boundary on recursion. What that exact number is, I don't know. I do know when you hit it, you get error 28 - Stack Overflow... I have to beleive it isn't any less than VFP however...
>I'm kind of torn between VFP & VB since on one hand it's my understanding that VB lends itself better to COM creation but VFP affords me a well known ability to massage the data in a cursor which would help me to alleviate the recursion requirements.
