>>This is one of those nightmares. For more than a year this function has been working fine. I added a piece of code to sort the data after initially filling the table. I tested it, it worked fine, I compiled it into an exe, that worked fine and then all of a sudden I go back and the code fails. I run the exe and it still works. I restore from the backup that was done at the time the exe was compiled and that code now fails. Something on my computer settings or foxpro settings or something other than the code has changed which is causing this function to fail and it is driving me crazy. I appreciate your suggestions but it looks like this is going to be another of "Bill's little mysteries" that I'm going to have to figure out by slow random hacking.

Erik,

I will. This is madening. I just mentioned to Doug how a two month old backup worked once and then stopped working after that. I completely cleaned up my development folders and files back to default like I do when I get ready to compile an exe for distribution and that fails as well. Like I said, this is a function that has been working great for a year an now this. I haven't changed Windows platforms and I'm using VFP SP3 as I have since the day SP3 came out.

There's something that has changed but I can't figure out what and why does it work with the debug window open?

Maybe it's the Y2K bug <g>
