>Unfortunately this is not alway's a suitable alternative. You're bound to the implementation of the activeX control. building controls within VFP provides more flexibility and is more lightweight.

Timers are anything but lightweight.... Also, you can subclass ActiveX Controls in VFP to extend their functionality. I had a series of articles in FoxTalk last year on this very subject...

>John, Again, why do you have the urge to be rude and try to offense people ? Your behaviour doesn't fit your MVP status. If you don't want to discuss things don't reply ! By the reaction of other people, like jimB I can only conclude this idea is worth a discussion.

OK... Timers are, IMHO, a bad idea. They add overhead, and once again, are anything but lightweight.

How can you judge ? Are you VFP developer team member ? Your remark has no value to me. Only if someone of the VFP-team says it's impossible, I would respectfully withdraw my wish.
>

It is not a matter of it being impossible, it is a matter of being practical. I can almost guarantee you the VFP team has not been swamped with a request like this. I could think of , oh say 10 items that would be more important than this. And of the 10 I think are important, I will consider myself lucky if 1 or 2 make it.

As always, you are free to ask for anything you want. And, allow me to open the first door for you. Send your wish to foxwish@microsoft.com. This is no BS, that is a real email address....

>>In purely economic terms, the cost would not be justified. And once again, there are ActiveX Controls that can be used instead.

>Again, ActiveX controls do not fill the need in all cases and slows an app down even more than one or two extra events.
>
>>Also, I think Lisa Slater came up with best solution that does not use timers. Rather, the various mouseover events across different controls are used.

>This method is not sufficient. There are leaks in it ! See the reply of Erik to Roi.
