Paul, I get the impession that you Canadians are a lot more savvy about using government power to negotiate with industry than we are. I think you get some equally dramatic cost-savings in your health care.
Here in the States, the Republicans have convinced the majority that government is hopeless inefficient and the best it can do is stay out of the way of industry. This despite the fact that Medicare/Medicaid is reputed to run it's operation on 3% of the total expenditures while insurance company take upwards of 30% (facts from Bulworth movie <g>).
