If you don't have access
to SQL Server than this is a great way to get a real database for testing and prototyping on/off. I have no hands one experience but it appears to be a clone of SQL server for 5 users.
When you consider the price tag fo SQL Server for a developer it's a bit high. I got it with the Back Office version of NT years ago. I have worked with 4.5, 6, and 6.5 versions of data as backends for fpw and VFP so far.
Getting stored procedures to fire, indexing, logs, data dumps, and extending the database are all fun to do in SQL Server. Looking at X-Case as a tool to show you how to work with VFP to SQL databse is a nice touch. You get to look at the scripts that it creates so you can do likewise in the future.
