To upgrade a client database it is as easy as this

IF oMeta.oSDTMgr.NeedUpdate()
oMeta.oSDTMgr.Update('ALL')
ENDIF oMeta.oSDTMgr.NeedUpdate()

As for other products doing a better job I can't tell you for sure but I don't think so.

SDT does so many things besides what you asked...
