Hi James,
On your report form:
1. Create a rectangle using the Form Controls toolbar. Use the Color Palette toolbar to make this whatever "shading" you desire, then select the rectangle and choose Format/Send to Back.
2. Double-click the rectangle, select the "Print When" button, and provide a logical expression designating when to print the shaded rectangle, such as:
!EMPTY( MyTable.MyField )
3. Add the desired data field to your report. Place the data field DIRECTLY OVER the shaded rectangle.
4. Execute the report.
HTH,
Evan Pauley
>Is there any way to shade a detail line in report writer. say a light gray only when certain conditions are met, I can handle the print when but can not figure out how to put a shape behind the fields and have it print only for certain fields to give the appearance of a highlight.
