In many respects, yes, it is superior. VFP has it's advantages. However, most of those are really pegged to a specific class of application. Right now, I am working on a small web application for AAA Midatlantic. It is ASP based using VB components in MTS. I am using and implementing OO concepts just fine. I could not leverage VFP's strengths here, so I opted not to use it...

I would disagree based on the fact that we are dealing with data here. For me using the FoxPro data engine and SQL Server engine is faster and easier to program in than VB/Jet.




What exactly are you disagreeing with? The fact that I am using VB components because ADO recordsets are being passed around. Not once did I mention the word Jet. The context of my response was focused upon a web-based C/S app scenario where VB does exceptionally well with data. The fact is, in that scenario, the Fox engine would not provide squat with respect to performance. The UI in my case is IE.
