Hi Randy...

Firt off, please give Andy, Lisa, Colin, and Dan my best wishes. I know what you guys are up to down there, and the scale of 1-10 , it ranks a 10 on the coolness scale. I worked for a marketing company that did a lot of demographic work, so I know the challenges you face, especially in regards to quantity of data.

Second, thank you for the kind words. With regard to reasoning behind a choice of tools, I think you said it as best it could be said.

Thanks again!! :)

>First, I would like to say that I feel that if you are not a big enough person to say something directly to the person you are talking about, then you shouldn't say it behind their backs either. I have seen John take a lot of what I thought was abuse from any number of people here on the UT, but at least they were big enough to post their comments directly.

>Secondly, John has done a great job of promoting VFP when it was warranted. Unfortunately, as he has said many times, the folks that feel that VFP is THE answer for all situations seem to really get upset when he presents a valid argument for using another development platform for a given project. I am not, and probably never will be a VB advocate, but it is just a better tool for some projects. I am using Borland C++ Builder on my current projects because of the need for a snappy UI, portability to UNIX, and small EXE files. Does that mean that I will not use VFP where it is warranted? Just as John has said many times… absolutely not.

>I have never met JVP, but have received many helpful responses from him here on UT over the past couple of years. He deserves to be treated better than being personally attacked by someone that does not have the courage to make their comments openly. For what he does for the entire VFP community, I say "Thanks, John. Keep up the good work."
