Yeah the size of the data files and the overhead to process it can be an issue with XML. For large datasets, maybe you could compact it before sending it down the wire or send it in batches like a page by page report? I was thinking mostly of just sending the results of queries to populate controls on a form.

As time goes on we'll see how viable XML becomes. I'm just playing around with it right now.
