>Hi,
> I am jurnior developer. I have used VFP and VB for 2-3 years only. At this moment, I just develop single user Database Application using VFP (mostly) and VB just for couple of services. I am willing to have a chance to build C/S application in the future.

> After the long dicussion, I would like to ask, what development tools should be used for each tier? Or how do you design n-tier application with development from choosing development tools? If possible, would you have an article or whitepaper that talk about the development tools for C/S, issue that should be consider on C/S and so on for each develoment? I think is is great to have this article for reference in future......

John,

I'm with John on this one though I will probably use VFP more for middle tier objects. The reason for that is that I haven't had the time to get up to speed as much as I'd like with VB, NOT that VB is inferior. Actually, from all the research I've done VB is more technically suited to middle tier natively. Having said that and before I get shot *g* VFP and VB both essentially create the same binary at that point.

It seems to me that the real question you are asking is which toll will make you most efficient in your development process. The answer to that is to a large degree the one you are the most familiar with, as it is in my case. But you should as a developer always be upgrading your skill set.

I might also mention that there is something else you will want to give some thought to and that is the issue of the differences between multi-user applications and single-user applications. There will be a learning curve in this area as well. Not at all impossible or hard (relatively speaking) but important in the overall scheme of things. From there you graduate to stateless multiuser applications. *g*

Please feel free to ask any question you may have.

Best,

DD
