>>Hi Bruce,
>>
>>Don't know a whole lot about it but, I think all you need to do is run a line from the sound card line out to an input on your stereo. I think that's how it works but if it blows up and burns down the house, please don't blame me ;) Same thing with the roland, just line-out to the sound card line-in.

>>IAC, I would recommend a trip to the closest big music store and ask some questions. We have a mars nearby and the sales people (even the green-haired peirced ones) are pretty knowledgable. I just got a cheap and keyboard and am planning on doing the same thing myself.

>>First thing they will tell you is to dump the soudblaster (if that's what you have) and buy a real sound card. You may also want to look at getting a small mixer to hook everything up.

>Ah, a response, Hi Roi :) I wasn't too detailed before, figured I'd wait to see if anyone responded...I've had trouble getting good advice on mixed media questions like this at stores and online - people are good at stereos, keyboards, PCs, but no one seems to very good at more than one device...

>3) The Roland has a serial port I/O, so I'm all set on that. It does a great job with Cakewalk Pro Audio I/O after instruments are defined, but does poorly with other general MIDI stuff. (Cakewalk is very good, check it out if you're interested in such software)
>4) The PC speakers plugin to a sound output on the machine, but it's one cable with a 'Y' joint - must mean it's not real stereo?. So, for two reasons, I don't want to use that.
>5) There are two other I/Os on the back of the machine that look interesting, they are audio in/out connections with little music notes. The manual doesn't say squat about what they're for, though :(

>It's #5 I'm wondering about. Maybe these would work with the A/V Aux on the stereo? I could buy the cables and try it, I guess. I was just hoping maybe someone had done this already to save me some trial & error...
Bruce, the odds are that these are the right and left channels for autdio input; you can confirm this with a set of RCA jacks and a Voltage meter - if they're inputs, the vlotage on them shouldn't change during sound playback.
