>Erik,
>In your example where you showed me how to use the shellexecute api function: (=shellexecute(0,"Open","c:\myWordDoc.doc","","",0) to open a Word document, I was wondering if you can use that regardless of what Version the application is? If I used it to simply launch a word document, would it matter what version Word the user has?
>Thanks so much.

The ShellExecute function doens't care about version. ALL that the function does, is execute what Windows would do if you double clicked on the file in Explorer. Word file, AVI file, Excel, html, whatever. Windows does the work for you.
