There's also another solution if you want the letters rotated rather than:

You can make a bmp image using a graphics package (even paintbrush will do) with the same font and background as the rest of the form. Then place an image control on top of the form, command button, grid header, or whatever with the bmp attached. This creates the illusion of vertical text. With better graphics programs, you can also put the text at an angle which often makes a good impression.
