Hi John,

>It is not a matter of being able to code decently in a langauge. Rather, it is a matter of whether the language you are coding in is the correct tool for the job.

And part of the decision whether a tool is the correct tool for a job is the expertise of the developers you have available. Most of my work I do in VFP simply because I know this tool quite well. OTOH, sometimes I work in VC++, Pascal (not Delphi *g*) or even in VB. But in any of these tools I'm not as effecient as I'm in VFP, not because of the tool, but because of me.

If another tool is better suited and someone else who has the expertise can build something that I need cheaper, more stable, or whatever criteria is important, let that guy do the work, no problem. But if I wouldn't gain something by using a different tool or letting someone else use a differen tool, why should I use it?

I think, in general we can say, the larger the group of developers is that you have available, there more you can choose different tools for a job.
