IMHO VFP and Delphi rate pretty close. you can even probably say Delphi is better as it is also a very good general purpose language Delphi apps are not much smaller then VFP's though (when you start working with databases) and I also think VFP still has the eddg (on speed and easo fo manipulation data) when it comes to DB work as for general programming stuff, that's why I have the developer studio for IMHO having a toolset from which you can choose the best tool is better then a single good tool - though I am sure many people think than a single good language is better - you only have to learn one language (like the people who say they use VB because it is all around and they can also program thier word processor etc. with the same lang) I also know people who shy away from Delphi because it is not MS's (which IMHO is not a valid reason) Arnon
