>I am trying to find a way to disable a menu in a top level form. I have 'do menuname with thisform, .t.' in either the init or gotfocus method, which starts the menu properly, but I cannot use set 'skip of menu menuname' to disable it. I get messages like 'menu not created with define menu'. The menu name is never activated this way.

This isn't normal behavior...from a modal in a TL, the usual behavior is:
1) vfp5: all is disabled
2) vfp6: the menu titles are enabled, and they will drop down, but all the bars are disabled. I think this is rather nice behavior, actually....
Also, I would put the DO menu in the TL Activate, it seems to be a safer place to do it...
If you try this and there's still a problem, something isn't right...
