That's fine... However, those folks shoud not bitch because their tool does keep pace. If you want a career without change and with out the need to learn new techniques, be a ditch digger.
Tell me, if your doctor refused to learn new techniques, how to use new tools, would you still want to use that professional. How about an accountant that refused to learn all of the latest tax codes in force?
Learning another langauge does not mean abandoning the one you use now. Rather, it is about learning a new skill set. If a developer is not interested in learning new languages, it is time for a career change...
>What if I don't want to learn another language?
>In fact, what if I want to move more into architecting solutions and let others be the propellerheads?

That assumes the skill set acquired in programming translates in developing architectures. Yes, developing architectures should be tool independent. Practically however, few people are willing to pay somebody to *just* architect your app. Become an indepedent consult who only architects applications. I don't think you will be in business that long....
>Unless you are resolved to work on pieces of a big project or small to medium projects, all the language skills in the world won't really help you any.

Yes, you do need to be well rounded. However, the issue you have brought up here does not address the point I was making..
