This can help you if you are using Exchange 5.5 as your mail server and OutLook 98 as Mail Client.

In Exchange 5.5 Server Scripting is possible on a mailbox, i.e you can write a VBscript on a mailbox using OutLook Client, which gets autoatically Executed when a mesage arrrives in that mailbox on which the script is written. In your script you can use a MsgBox sort of thing to give an indication that the mail has arrived.
