Fortuantely, you have lots of options. Our company manages data for restaurant chains, and our app (site) generates all the data. On a daily basis, each site needs to send that day's data (and other files, etc.) to the corporate office, where the data is append to the corporate files. We currently offer two options to our clients...
1. FTP use any of the many available FTP ActiveX controls (Mabry works well) and send the data that way. At the corporate end either give the user a manual update app, or have an app running 24/7 that polls for these files.
2. Dial-up. We have used a dial-up library (CommTools from HalloGram) for another group of clients. The site can be set up yo automatically dial out at say 4:00 am (or the user can manulally initiate the dial-up). The server (corporate) is running 24/7 waiting for incoming calls. When it gets one, it process the file, etc.
Both of these work very reliably.
Hope this helps.
