I have just discovered the new (or am I behind the times) Microsoft Database Engine which, as far as I can work out, is a cut-down verson MS SQL Server 7.0 optimised to support databases of up to 2GB. There doesn't seem to be a limit on users but MS recommends no more than 2GB.
I remember reading (or dreaming) a rumour that MS may eventually unit VB, VC++ and VFP into a single Visual Studio shell with language modules and sharing a single database engine. Is MSDE the desktop version of MS SQL Server that will allow this to happen through VS7 or VS8?
What do you think about MSDE and have you used it with VFP or VB as an alternative to the VFP engine?
