In fact I do not use a class that has only this functionality in it. In some cases i'd prefer to use normal form classes not having any overhead. In most cases I use what i call a navigation form. And yes indeed here I do use your method.
But this is really not the issue. The fact that we must provide our own workarrounds to accomplish this is really a shortcomming of the product. We can certainly live but life would be easier if there is a way to take care of this in a more effective way. Also note there are whole tribes that are bitten by this behaviour once in a while.
Note that this also applies to toolbars, formsets, and datasession objects.
