Barbara,
Many thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that I did try attaching some of the fields to the bottom. The problem is that I have several streach fields stacked above each other. If there is no easy way to replicate the action of the DOS report writer I can always use my old trick of creating the entire layout in an 80+ column detail field and do it all in code but this almost defeats the purpose of having a report writer and is a lot of work.
John.

>John,
>Sorry I didn't see your message last week. Can you fix the lower fields tothe bottom of the band instead of floating them? That way the stretched field(s) will still be above them.

>>I have a number of reports that I am converting from DOS 2.6 where stretch was used. I am finding a lot of problems getting stretch to work in the VFP 6.0 report writer. 1st I have found that if a stretch field is not directily above other fields they do not "float". I have had to widen the stretch field to go over top of them to get them to float. I now have a report where some fields are floating and some are not even though they are all under the stretch field. It is a very complicated report that worked find in DOS. In the expression I am joining data and quoted text into one report expression and including CHR(13) so that it appears on two lines but only if a field is not empty.
