>>Thanks for the kind words. I think you'll find it a fairly fast routine. I ran some tests (in the development environment) at home using a P200 (pity me< g >) with 64 Mb and a 13 gig hard drive with 3,700+ directories. Took a shade over 30 seconds to recurse the entire tree. I seem to recall, however, that Cetin Basoz did a similar test using the FileSystemObject and that it was marginally faster. I don't, however, remember all the details.

I did run it agains the C:\ drive for grins and it returned 1289 folders in 17 seconds, very impressive. My first thought was to use FileSystemObject, I believe it has a Folders collection. But FSO is a beast at times and I don't have much time to get this done. Your code saved me several hours, I'll hoist my next Guiness to ya, even better, I'll buy you a round at the next DevCon.

Glad it seems to be working for you. I really never went in with an eye for optimzing it to see if there was any more speed I could squeeze out of it.

I've never been one to turn down someone's offer of buying. Look forward to seeing you at DevCon.
George
