Two Commercial General Purpose FTP clients have a check box for passive. One of our NT WS users was having problems FTP-ing, so our ISP suggested he toggle the "passive". It seems, and I'm fuzzy on this one, that outgoing FTP ports through 21, and (non-passive) incoming returns through 21. My (speculative) understanding is that 21 may be suspect for collisions, and that the INTERNET_FLAG_PASSIVE setting allows the desktop to sense and read FTP returns from ports other than 21.

I'd appreciate any help with this (perhaps mis-) understanding.
