I don't mind the refresh (well, I do, but that's a separate bitch and moan topic that can only be addressed when we give Michel enough money to get a bigger pipe for the UT), but I'd rather be allowed to service the icon from the IE browser's cache (and if necessary, give up the time stamp). It looks like the icons are pulled down fresh each time, rather than an icon reference that can be resolved locally.
Turning off all refresh is an option, but then it doesn't beep at you when the bats drop a message for you personally on the board...
