Thanks, I like that idea! It will work great for ID's I don't care to throw away if the user cancels their new record.

However, I also am working on not updating the Next ID value until the TableUpdate() occurs.

How can I work around this?

For example if I want to throw away a record before it is saved, I don't want to use up a value.

Do you know of a way to retrieve the value that was just assigned to the new record that was written to the table?
