Hi Jack,
I had a VFP/MSSql server app that we switched to VFP/Oracle 7.3. Since the business rules were build into the VFP front end, the switch was quite easy. Essentially I modified the MSSQL Server sql scripts of the database objects and ran them in the Oracle database. There were some problems with datatypes, no logical bit data type in Oracle 7.3 and some problems with varchar2.
The important thing was having the business rules in VFP.
There is an article by Mark Mcclasland in the knowledge base on configuring odbc for Oracle. Do a search here on Oracle and you will find many useful discussions.
Good luck,
Paul de Niverville
