Closing the table initiates a FLUSH, so both are not necessary. However, FLUSH is not a cure all. As others have said, it may not be necessary if your network is setup correctly and using newer PCs, NICs, Server, hubs, drivers, etc. FLUSH
can degrade performance. If you are suffering data corruption problems, FLUSH may help while you check the network.
