The problem we had with the control was a visual problem. We where converting a large accounting and manufacturing system to from 2.6 to VFP. It uses a lot of date fields that appear to be empty giving the end user the perception that if they enter a value into the field another process will fire. The MS date selection dropdown is nice looking but it wont allow you display an empty date.

The designers of the original application thought the check box enable/disable mechanism would give their 10000+ users a problem :-), so we rewrote the control in C++ (Not as big a task as it sounds).
