For many years SBT was considered "best of the breed" but about 5 years ago decided to maximize cash flow while minimizing R & D. It is now reputed to be filled with very, very old code. Do not know if any changes have been made in last 6 months.

AccountMate about 5 years ago decided to scrap all of the old & re-write in Visual Fox from the ground up. The result appears to have elevated them to "best of breed", at least for accounting written in Fox.
