Has anyone seen this error message? It shows as a right-to-left scrolling text in a wait window type window, and the only way out, is to CTRL-ALT-DEL and end the task.
It happens when our start-up program for MIS Apps tries to open a help.dbf file. Help.dbf is a custom help file used for user input how-to-do texts, and it is used, as any other data file, in shared mode – never used exclusively.
We fix the problem by using GPLIB (Netware API library) to find out which work station have help.dbf open, then clear the connections. Not only this is not a nice thing for the users, but it requires the intervention of a MIS staff having the required privileges on the network - and, as you expect, the error has a special preference for long weekends...
We cannot reproduce the error, it pops up every 3-4 months, and we couldn’t actually find it in the FoxPro list of error messages.
TIA for any suggestion.
