>I just finished installing VFP6.0 SR3 onto my notebook PC. I had a number of problems getting this installed and had to do it piece by piece. (I was getting an error message "ACMSETUP caused an invalid page fault in module MSSETUP.DLL at 0177:10013f12". So I ran the setup several times each time adding an additional component. Once that was done I installed SR3 with no problem.

Something about either the OS setup or the copy of VFP6 sounds very squirrelly. I've installed VFP6 on a much less capable notebook from the VS 6.0 distribution CD, and then upgraded to SP3, with no problems. It's basically the same video driver (the NeoMagic) about half the RAM and half the disk space, with the Cyrix 200MHz processor.

It's a poor fit - things run much better on a PIII with 256MB, but VFP6 works on a 200MHz Pentium with 32MB and Win98 with no major problems, given enough disk space. I've rebuilt VAM projects on a machine that small.

What were the -exact- steps followed to install VFP6, and what version of Win98 are you running, with which, if any, of the critical updates or optional components?

One of the most frequent mistakes in installing VFP6 is failing to shut down all other apps before the install; this includes most AV software. I might try reformatting, reloading the OS, and then doing the install from scratch, applying any updates to WIn98 (at least SP1 if you are not running SE) before trying to apply VS SP3.
