And it's a very nice way around some potential problems as well (such as always relying on the sub-classed objects having the exact same number of buttons).

I don't know about you, John, but (if the truth be known) I find my self relying less and less on option button groups. Simply put they can take up unnecessary screen real estate, and other UI objects can accomplish the same.
