Why was the length of a character variable changed from 2GB to 16MB between VFP5 & 6? In fact in VFP6/SP3, I can read a file into a character variable using FILETOSTR and be larger than 16MB. So why does the 16MB limit exist if it can be exceeded, or is this just a recommendation for an upper limit? It does seem to flog the disk when you go over the 16MB size.
