In some cases you'll still get the talk echo as the dataenviornment loads, even if you've set it off else where. The problem is that the set talk off isn't necessarly scoped to private datasessions, so if your form is running in a private datasession you can still get the echo because the dataenviornment of the form loads (and the proceudures in it run) prior to the load() event of the form itself...which also why the fix works.
