I appreciate your patience with me today. If I don't get it figured out this time, I won't nag you anymore ... promise.

in a previous message:
I have:
Keys.Table as a regular index (ascending)
Keys.NextId (no index) type intiger
MyTable.MyTableid as a primary index (ascending)

do i have these fields set up correct?

then in the default box while setting up the field MyTableid, i put:
GetKey("MyTable")

do i have this correct?

then i just cut and pasted your code.

If all this is correct, I'm going home to play Quake.

p.s. what would an example of a correct entry be?

>It's looking for the correct entry in the Keys.Dbf for the table that you are inserting to. That's how it determines what the next key is.

>>I know the definitions of Seek and Upper(), but what is seek looking for; i.e. using to find "where it's supposed to be"?
