Surely it is wrong to imagine that everyone can be regarded as the same here. I have lurked for about a year, and now that I am using the service regularly I have coughed up the cash. If you can afford to pay and want to then you become a sponsor or patron. In my experience, and most FoxPro developers I know would concur, they learn't most from the communities and are now generally doing quite well from that knowledge. It's true for me and now I have grown to the point of receiving a good income I am happy to pay out to keep a service going.

But in my early years I was just learning and glad to have the resources and help of so many people. My income now is 50x what it was then, and I am happy to give something back, and look forward to being able to contribute good answers as well as money once my confidence grows further.

The UT has an excellent rich interface that does create a better tactile experience than a text-only enviroment. This does have bandwidth implications and so consequently costs money. Before I had PUTM I found the nag-buttons irritating enough that when I wanted to use it regularly it was natural to pay for them to go away.

Surely this site proves that the concept of taking according to your need and contributing according to your ability can be a practical reality.
