I don't know the answer but I can contribute to the mystery. I've used pictures with captions on buttons a lot and never had a problem. Except, when I wrote a program having FTP functions that use WININET. As soon as an FTP connection is established ALL the buttons with pictures lose about 2/3 of the picture when selected. They're ok when not selected. I have no idea what is going on and have not tested it yet on another computer.
