Miriam Liskim had a series of articles in Advisor on the FFC framework for building an app. It might help point out some weaknesses of the FFC you'll need to be aware of. I think it was towards the beginning of the year the articles were published.
I would also heavily recommend Marcus Eggar's "Advanced OOP" book. It's the best documentation on the FFC I've seen to date.
