Jimmy it all depends, if you're gonna go that way you might as well take the the number when appending the new PO, you can force a save or cancel so the record is still there but the PO itself is cancelled or ready for use. There's no point in using a "virtual" number if it's gonna be given to a customer immediatly. If you're giving it away already it means it's a done deal so changes should be saved.

Then there's the problem of users just creating blank records to take a number, and forgetting to use them later, it's happened to me .. but that's another story.

>I'm with you on that part. I guess what i'm asking is how to show the appended record's ID in a text box on the form. When this form is used, I will be on the phone with my customers and will need to give them this number. I'm fairly new to foxpro programming and don't know if i can accomplish this with a simple statement or if I need to create some kind of modified form to pull from.
