As always, your opinions are clear and precise.
>I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of hearing from a faction of the VB community that insists on making the product more like C++. Many of these folks detested the data-centric capabilities VB received in 6.0. Rather, they wanted more low-level control, pointers and such. The fact is, there are alot of things VB can do. In most cases however, many of these folks should look to C++ for this type of work. Personally, I think Ash is unfairly bashing the product. He is basically labeling it as unfit for large-scale enterprise developement. That simply is not true.
I remember hearing the bashing during the VB6.0 beta, but I think this happens with any application. At the Orlando DevCon last year, many people were complaining the VFP 6.0 didn't have many changes. They wanted to see visible things and didn't realize that much had changed under the hood.

>The path goes both ways. Alot of folks do things that should be done in VB, and folks try to do stuff in VB that would be better served in VC. Why do they do this? Because they end up using the tool they know best.. Sound familar????

>VBPJ has increasingly become more of a whine-fest... It is somewhat surprising since that is not their reputation. Still, the technical content of VBPJ is at or near the top... Right there on the cover is stuff on the Active Directory. How long do you think it will be before you see stuff like that in Fox journals. Most likely, you will see it in FoxTalk first...
I even remember seeing the editor of VBPJ complaining about the state of VB.

>As for implements, the issue is not related at all. This guy wants access to low-level COM interfaces.. I say, go to VC++ if you need that..
Thanks
