OK Michel, I will have to live with it as it is.
I do not think it is a "too quick scroll" causing the problem - I use a touch-pad and clicked real-quick on this one and I still got the behaviour.
I guess, though, that I am still confused by the need for the automatic scroll. I can only guess that it is to accommodate those people who place their responses at the end of prior messages.
