>>3. Just a very general comment here - linking child objects or forms reliably to a parent is a non-trivial process. Simplifying this is one of the strong points of all of the commercial VFP frameworks. Have you looked into them at all, or are they not suitable for your needs?

I can think of 6 off the top of my head. The first 4 advertise right here on the UT:

Visual FoxExpress
Visual ProMatrix
Mere Mortals Framework
CodeMine
MaxFrame Professional
Visual Extend (www.devigus.com I think)

Commercial frameworks offer proven ways to easily achieve common VFP application development tasks. You don't have to reinvent the wheel. Cost is typically about US$500 - 600 range.

Downside is, you will need to spend significant time learning the framework to get the most out of it. So, you need to be careful to choose the right one. As you would expect, all have their pros and cons. There have been some large threads here on the UT discussing frameworks, and there are other discussions on the "wiki" as well (sorry I don't have a URL for that, can someone else help out?)
