Ted when you try to access a file with corrupted memos VFP will offer to fix it for you. JUST SAY NO! I've lost hundreds perhaps thousands of memos that way.
First thing to try is to create a valid empty DBF file and append from the corrupted file.
In one case where this would not work I first created an empty DBF with no memo field. I did the append (leaving behind the memos). Then I changed the structure of the new table to add the memo field. (Empty, of course.) Finally I wrote a loop to access the memo data from the corrupted table record by record and copy it to the new table. This was close to 100% successfull.
